Tsinghua Sundial

Located at the south end of the central lawn, in front of Tsinghua University’s auditorium, stands the classical timekeeping instrument—the sundial. Originally a relic from the Old Summer Palace (Yuanmingyuan), this sundial was presented to Tsinghua by the graduating class of 1920 as a gift to their alma mater. Engraved on the lower base of the sundial is their guiding motto: “Actions Speak Louder Than Words.”

This historic sundial not only marks the passage of time but also serves as a reminder of the enduring values upheld by Tsinghua. Through this 3D model, viewers can explore the sundial’s details from various angles, experiencing this cherished symbol of Tsinghua’s heritage and spirit in a digital format.
